New Transmission Project Subsidiaries: REC Limited recently established two new wholly-owned subsidiaries, Umred Power Transmission Limited and Sakoli Power Transmission Limited, on July 7, 2025. These entities will specifically handle power transmission projects in Maharashtra, strengthening India’s electricity grid. This is part of REC’s ongoing strategy to bolster the nation’s power infrastructure, mirroring similar subsidiary incorporations for projects in other states earlier this year.
Strong Financial Performance & Green Push: For the fiscal year 2024-25, REC reported robust financial growth, with disbursements increasing by 18% and net profit by 12%. The company is significantly focusing on renewable energy, targeting a ₹3 lakh crore exposure in this sector by 2030, making up 30% of its projected ₹10 lakh crore loan book. REC is also a key implementation agency for the “PM Surya Ghar Yojana” rooftop solar program.
Corporate & Social Initiatives: Effective July 1, 2025, REC announced changes to its management and board. In its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, REC recently partnered with Kaziranga for a ₹5.43 crore grant and received awards for healthcare support and excellent official language implementation, demonstrating its commitment to broader societal development.
