Both indices stayed above their CPR pivots and key long-term SMAs (100 & 200), though they continue to face resistance below their 50-day SMAs\u2014at 25,050 for Nifty and 56,400 for BankNifty. A bullish daily close in Nifty, above the previous engulfing candle, along with RSI recovery (Nifty bounced from 38), signals strengthening bullish sentiment.<\/p>\n
The CPR setup for 31st July suggests narrow, rising pivots\u2014hinting at potential volatility during expiry. For Nifty, the pivot is at 24,755 with levels of 24,788 (buy above) and 24,723 (sell below). BankNifty’s pivot is at 56,120, with breakout and breakdown levels at 56,171 and 56,069. Sustained moves beyond these levels may drive intraday trends.<\/p>\n
Option data supports this setup. Nifty shows peak Call OI at 25,000, followed by 25,200 and 25,500, indicating overhead resistance. Strong Put support lies at 24,800, 24,700, and 24,600. BankNifty\u2019s highest Call OI is at 57,000, with solid Put writing at 56,000 and 56,200\u2014suggesting a bullish undertone if 56,000 holds.<\/p>\n
Sector-wise, auto and FMCG led gains. Maruti and Tata Motors rallied on sustained demand optimism, while FMCG benefitted from easing input costs. Realty extended gains, driven by DLF and Godrej Properties. On the flip side, IT lagged due to weak global cues, and PSU banks showed mild underperformance. Meanwhile, stable crude, positive FII-DII flows, and a low VIX near 12.4 supported sentiment.<\/p>\n
Going into expiry, markets remain in a range with potential for breakout. For Nifty, a move above 25,050 may target 25,160\u201325,250. A rejection could lead to consolidation near 24,700. In BankNifty, 56,400 is the key. A breakout could open 56,600\u201356,850, while a drop below 56,000 risks a slide to 55,600\u201355,400. Current positioning reflects defensive Put writing, indicating bulls’ efforts to defend support zones.<\/p>\n
